The heart & soul behind Spaces Bali
In January 2017, Jonny and I, together since the age of 21, came to Bali as empty-nesters with a view to travelling the world. However our first stop in Bali was to be our last! We fell in love with the people, the place, the weather, the food, and decided to call it home.
Within days of making this choice, the first dog showed up, chose us and moved in. (Many more have come and gone and now we let the pack do the choosing!)
What to do?
The question then became, what to do?
An idea surfaced that we loved, to create a unique venue where people could gather to stay, work and play.
So with the help of a financial partner, we embarked on this incredible journey and started building in 2019.
The plan was to open doors in 2020, but then the world turned upside down...
Challenge accepted!
After the 2 year setback and accompanying financial difficulties, getting to the finish line was a grand challenge.
We poured every penny and ounce of energy into the project, employed as many people as we could manage (so many had lost their jobs) and lived on fumes.
We finally (gently) opened our doors in June 2023 and were fully booked by mid-July… what a ride!
Onwards & upwards!
We continue to improve things all the time, adding more loving touches to make your experience here as comfortable as possible.
Despite the construction that is happening all around us, we get rave reviews and have many repeat customers - perhaps the highest form of compliment in this business.
People just feel so at peace here…
